Formula Student Germany 2024

September 13, 2024

The third event of our season was Formula Student Germany at the Hockenheimring. This home event naturally holds a very special place in our hearts, so let’s take another look at it:
On the first day, we already had our accumulator scruti, which we passed on the first attempt! The rest of the technical inspections also went smoothly, even though FSG is known for its strictness. We were therefore all the more pleasantly surprised that we had collected all the stickers two days before the start of the dynamic events!
We finished in the middle of the pack in the static events: 40th place in Business Plan and Cost & Manufacturing, and 56th place in Engineering Design.
The FSG is the first event of the season in which we were able to participate in all four dynamic events and set a time! In autocross, we were able to set a decent time despite the challenging track, which earned us a starting place in the second, faster group. And that’s when the bad luck started 🌧️…
In the most difficult conditions, we had to spontaneously switch to rain tires at the starting line of the Endurance race due to heavy rain. With many yellow flags, a fire truck deployment including a red flag, and standing water on the track, Sandy was put through its paces. So the joy and relief among all team members was all the greater when Sandy saw the checkered flag at the Endurance race! The team had not managed to score points in the premier discipline at its home event since 2014! We were able to achieve 15th place in the Endurance with 132.59 points.
Overall, we were able to achieve 30th place out of a total of 79 teams at FSG 🥳! We were also delighted to welcome many visitors and supporters consisting of university members, sponsors, alumni, friends, and families to the race track, which gave the team another boost of motivation and also seemed to bring luck to the SPR23evo 🍀.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who followed our event live on site, but also in front of their screens. We really appreciate the support ❤️.
