Student Racing
One interdisciplinary team.
One passion.
One goal.
As student team at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences, we have been developing a formula racing car every year since 2006, which competes in international Formula Student competitions – the world’s largest design competition for students. With 30-50 members, we design, build and race a formula car every year with the latest technology, engineering skills and innovations, which competes against other teams. We have one common goal: to build the best Formula Student racing car. We are the Scuderia Mensa.
The SPR23evo
80 kW electrical engine.
4 x 21 Nm Wheel hub motors.
230 kg total weight.
130 km/h Maximum speed.
For the current season, we are going electric. Our racing car SPR23evo, nicknamed Sandy, drives to the top of Formula Student with an electric drive and wheel hub motors from AMK. 14 years after Scuderia Mensa’s first electric car and 7 built combustion engines, we are building another electric vehicle. With the experience gained from 18 years of Formula Student and 7 e-formula cars built, we are entering the race with a full carbon monocoque and developing a vehicle that has been optimized from the ground up.
Racing since 2006
18 years of history.
14 race cars built.
Scuderia Mensa was founded in 2006 by a small team of students from various degree programs. Since then, the team has grown every year to include new members with fresh ideas and works with more supporting partners. With our interdisciplinary team, we have already built 14 combustion and electric cars and taken part in more than 15 Formula Student competitions worldwide. We achieved a top ranking of 5th place overall and 1st place in the “Business Presentation” and “Fuel” categories. Our goal? To build a racing car that can keep up with the best teams.
Formula Student
Theory and practice combined.
Formula Student is the world’s largest design competition for students, in which racing teams from universities and colleges compete against each other with racing cars they have designed and built themselves. The event, just like the teams themselves, is financed by sponsors from the business world. The most important event for us is Formula Student Germany in Hockenheim. This is where the world’s elite meet to compete and up to 120 racing teams present their concept and their vehicle. However, it is not just vehicle and driver performance on the race track that scores points – each team is assessed in various disciplines from acceleration and efficiency to marketing on the basis of a business plan and a cost analysis.

Events 2024
In the 2024 season, we will be competing with our SPR23evo in Formula Student competitions in Europe. Where the best racing cars from international student teams compete against each other, we are at the forefront with motivation and passion.
